Dear LP -
I'm so sorry to hear you are having so many issues. The numbness - what an ordeal. I am going to try to never go on birth control again. After trying Depo, Nuva Ring, Orthocyclen, Ortho-tricyclen Low (got pregnant), and Mirena over the course of 14 years, I think it's not healthy for me. I am very fertile and have wonderful pregnancies, but my hormone contraceptive journey has not gone that well. I am now about 8 weeks after having the IUD out. I had over two weeks of heart palpatations at weeks 3-5 and fought off another anxiety attack. I didn't go to the doctor for that. She called me back after my email to her and suggested progesterone cream to calm the heart rate. Since I was convinced it was from the Mirena, I just waited it out. I felt better soon after and I just started menstruating again at 8 weeks and mine, too, is worse than any in my life. I imagine the first few will be like this after not menstruating much for over a year. I will be going back to get my hormones checked closer to the third month - need time before bothering to test. I have always been somewhat sensitive to hormone contraception, but after this and a really bad event with Nuva Ring, I decided I am done. My body needs a break. Considering I didn't write into a blog, just read them, for a year, it's safe to assume there are thousands of women having issues. I did it just to try to help prove there are more of us.
