I'm glad you called! Is this family doctor a gynecologist? If so, then the non-urgent appointment (4 weeks from now) indicates that this may not something to be concerned about, and could resolve on its own. They probably want you to have another 4 weeks to see if you have a period or not that includes more regular bleeding. (assuming you spoke with a nurse, and not just the receptionist)?
