If so, you can take a home pregnancy test (when did you last have unprotected sex?).
Birth control pills can help regulate your cycle, so I'm not sure what you mean by "mess up" your cycle. Emergency contraception pill can alter your cycle for a few months, causing an early period or late period. It can also cause breakthrough bleeding (bleeding in between periods).
