Hi, Meka, and welcome to EmpowHer! Thanks so much for your question.

I am wondering if you are starting into perimenopause. Since you mention two things that are symptoms of perimenopause -- irregular cycles and unexplained weight gain -- it makes me wonder if something hormonal could be going on for you.

It's possible, of course, to have a condom that wasn't 100% perfectly in place or that perhaps had some sort of damage to it. But that wouldn't cause you to feel like you were going to have periods sooner than usual.

In terms of the weight gain, I'm wondering if ANYTHING else has changed in the last two or three weeks. Have you changed any medicines or any dosages? Does something you are eating or drinking more of lately contain sodium? Have you started exercising more or less? Are you drinking less water? Has it gotten hotter where you are? Some of those things can cause a quick water-weight gain almost before we notice it.

When perimenopause starts -- which can even be 10 years or more before menopause -- your hormonal levels may rise or fall unevenly (even when they were always balanced before.) Here's the Mayo Clinic's page on perimenopause; be sure to check the blue links along the left side to click on pages for symptoms, causes, tests and diagnosis to see if they help describe what you're experiencing:

Does any of this sound like what might be going on? Or no?
