Hi, SSmith:

Psyllium is a soluble fiber derived from the husks of the seeds of a plant grown largely in India, Pakistan, Russia and several countries in Europe. It's used primarily as a dietary supplement to maintain colon health and is the primary ingredient in laxative products like Mucilex (from the term, mucilage, for the clear gelling agents obtained from plants).

Psyllium can be found in various forms, such as tablets, or added to a product, or as a powder. There is an article released just today on the use of psyllium to treat symptoms of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).

Hope this helps.
