Sometimes my vagina is like that, I always think I get too much discharge then again, I don't known any other woman that talk about their vagina, so i don't know if it's really normal or not for other women. Sometimes there is a lot more of it than other times. The past few days my vaginal discharge has been rather excessive, though I am sure I've had this numerous times in the past, a lot of milky watery stuff coming leaking, it feels as if I have wet myself, it is a pain, because I have to go to the toilet so often to clean up, today I must have gone 20 times, and yesterday. I am 31 now, and I am not sexually active, I have not been for maybe around 6 + years. I have had swabs in the past, nothing, I have had xrays, cameras and all sorts, nothing odd, I have a smear test every 3 years, they have always been normal, except for one time like 10 years ago, when I had to redo the smear, because their was too much discharge. The discharge has been heavier this month I think, there is often more of it a few weeks after period, I think this has something to do with pre-ovulation time, I think when I ovulate it is quite thin and clear, kind of sticky stretchy, there is usually less. Also when I was sexually active as a teenager, I was on the pill for years was to balance my hormones from 15 till around 23 I think. The pill made my discharge much thicker and clumpier almost all the time, especially when I was having sex, it was embarrassing, it was too wet, there seemed to be spoonfuls of it, it was clean but really thick, I eventually I decided to stop the pill because of it, and it the amount was greatly reduced. Also I hear it can be thick when you are pregnant. Often the doctors think I am pregnant, because my hormones are doing crazy things, they always recommend pregnancy tests, even though I tell them it is impossible sperm has not been anywhere near me. I don't really know how it would be now, because I no longer have sex unfortunately. I think the cause of my discharge is just hormonal, and yours could be too. Also irritation can be cause, do not wash inside vagina, and try a gentler soap if , sometimes when I wash to often, or with anti-bacterial soaps, more discharge happens, and also your boyfriend wash himself carefully before sex, you might want to do same before and after sex, to help prevent irritation as well as cystitis, condoms can cause irritation too I hear. Sometimes infections can cause more discharge, infections of bowel, bladder, even skin infections on or near your genital area can be cause. I hear a lot of "experts" say it shouldn't smell, but sometimes it does, and this is normal for me, it can smell a bit like onions for days after I eat onions, and slight musky smell, or sesame and even honey smells sometimes occur. If it is strong foul smelling, like fish or strong cheese for example I have been told it would likely be an infection or just need proper washing. Should never smell fishy or be green or any other color but white or clear. Anyway, heavy discharge can be normal for some woman. I would recommend you get a check up though to be sure, especially if you are sexually active.
