What I thought was particularly sad about this was that it took a MONTH for authorities to figure out that the pictures were okay and the kids should be returned to their parents. A month! That's such a long time for young children and their parents to be separated. It certainly seems that something went awry here. I don't fault the Wal-Mart employees for calling photographs to someone's attention, and I don't fault law enforcement for looking into it. But it seems as though this was handled in just about the worst way possible for all involved.
