I am so sorry that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and as you know, invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) is the most common type.

Doctors do use a PET scan to test for possibility of recurrent breast cancer, and there are many other tests used to diagnose and monitor your condition. You can read through the various tests at: Breast Cancer.Org: Testing Types.

In order to be better able to answer your question, it depends on many factors:
- when was your breast cancer first diagnosed, and what was the treatment and outcome?
- when were you diagnosed with recurrent IDC?
- when was your last PET scan (or other diagnostic or monitoring test, if different from above)?
- are you undergoing any other monitoring or diagnostic testing?
- are you undergoing any ongoing treatments?
- what information has your doctor provided, regarding yoru recurrent IDC?

You can read more about IDC at: Breast Cancer: IDC

We hope to hear back from you soon!
