Some teen girls are on birth control pills to regulate their periods and not because they are sexually active. Maybe that is why some of your friends told you that it is good to take them whether you're active or not?
I would advise that you do talk to your doctor about the pros and cons, have him or her suggest the best pill for you and go from there. If you are choosing to become sexually active at this age, please keep in mind that STD's and HIV are very prevalent especially in the young community. The best way to help prevent any type of disease is the use of a condom during sex. A pill will only protect you from pregnancy but not from any type of disease.
Good Luck, please have this conversation with your doctor.
