Prior to this procedure, I had very heavy periods with clots which lasted 7-8 days. I was anemic and tired all the time. I had the procedure in 2009. I had the watery discharge for a couple of weeks, then a very light period for 2-3 days. When I did a follow up with the GYN she shyly told me that sometimes the lining grows back. That really stood out to me because prior to the procedure everyone said that I'd be rid of my periods.
For the next year, I had a very light period each month where I only needed to wear pantyliners. I was pleased. The second year, I had 1-2 days that I needed to wear a pad, then liners for 5-6 days. My periods have gradually gotten heavy again. Some months, I go through 8-16 super tampons in 1-2 days then it tapers to liners. I resumed a 7-day cycle within 2 years of the procedure. My clotting is nothing like it used to be.
I'm not sure that I would recommend this procedure. I give it a 2/5. I was 40 years old when I had it done and was looking forward to period-free living. I guess that I'm now waiting on my natural menopause. I will be 48 years old in a few days...
