Stayingpumped,

You are providing some contradictory information that is concerning to me. You mention that you can't find a doctor due to some prejudices you may have about certain groups of people, but then you don't want to find a doctor because you are afraid s/he will find something is wrong (cysts)? Isn't that why you would go to the doctor, to either rule out a condition, or have it diagnosed so that it may be treated?

Either way, there are many great, qualified doctors in all areas of the world, regardless of the "type" of person they are, and as Diane mentioned, you will need to do some homework by calling their offices and asking what a particular doctor specializes in.

North Carolina publishes an annual list, "North Carolina's Best Doctors", published in the November 2009 edition of Business North Carolina magazine that would be great to review; hopefully there is an OB/GYN specialist who practices near Asheville.
(Source: http://www.dukehealth.org/HealthLibrary/HealthArticles/best_doctors_2009). This list will not rule out "rednecks" or "hippies", though! :-)

Lastly, Asheville, NC has a long list of OB/GYN from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecolgists (ACOG): Find a Doctor (ACOG). Just click "accept" to the terms, and click on your state for a listing.
