I sure can help!

You want to make sure you find a Registered Dietitian (R.D.), who specializes in diabetes education. Some professional also have higher education degrees (Masters degree, usually an MS, or may be Board Certified in a specialty area).

You can find a specialist at: American Diabetic Association (ADA): Find a Professional.

My advice to find the best health care professional:
- Word-of-mouth is the best resource for health care professionals from trusted family, friends, co-workers or neighbors. You can verify their references' credentials with the link above.
- Doctor or hospital referral. If you have a trusted doctor or quality health care facility, ask for their recommendations.
- Check credentials, but also of importance is their experience with your specific condition, as well as patient-rapport. If you do not "click" with this person, it is OK to find another health care professional (even if they meet your other criteria).
- Avoid any health care professional who is selling products, especially a nutritionist or dietitian who is selling supplements!
- Lastly, check with your health insurance company to make sure they are covering this specific professional and/or service.

Does this help?
