I would love to hear from others as well, regarding their ideas for "getting moving" during the holiday season, especially when your family is mixed with different levels of physical abilities and ages!
A few ideas that we have done:
- Family Bowling! It is so much fun to rent a lane for an hour or two, and get the family out of the house. Those with physical disabilities can still enjoy the game and help keep score; those with young children can use the "bumper bowling" option, and it really is fun (and inexpensive) for the entire family!
- Get outside with family, whether you have enough snow to build a snow fort or snowman...to warmer climates where you can bundle up and go for a stroll around the neighborhood or walk the mall to do some window shopping (as mentioned above). There are so many great wintertime activities, that you can take advantage of while you can!
- Wii or other fitness-related video game. This has been a huge hit at our extended family's house, as we play bowling, tennis and rowing with the entire family right in the living room, and it is something active to get us physically moving!
