Please do keep us updated on what your OB says!

I agree that a "soft kick" during pregnancy from your 2 year old is nothing to worry about, BUT, what did concern me is that you were concerned enough about it to ask the question...and that you connected the kick with cramping.

If you have any symptoms in your pregnancy, regardless of gestation, it is important to call your OB. Cramping can be normal, but cramping CAUSED BY a kick could indicate something...or just be coincidence with the timing. I'm not sure how a "soft kick" would "cause" cramping, unless you were off-balance and it caused a muscle cramp or jarring. Most likely, your fetus is completely fine, but since you were concerned enough to ask the question, I would follow-up with my OB as well. And, as Susan said, there are warning signs to look for: bleeding, severe pain, unusual cramping.

I just wanted to let you know that my point-of-view differed slightly from the other women's, and tend to err on the side of caution. My 3 year old has kicked me quite a bit throughout my pregnancy (I am now 26 weeks), and I have never experienced any physical effect from it (other than irritation!!!)
