Hi, DavnTuk,

Unfortunately, there IS no sure sign of pregnancy before a missed period. Women and their bodies are so different from one another that they can have very different experiences. One woman can feel that she "just knows" she's pregnant. Another woman can have no symptoms at all for six weeks. Another woman might be nauseous beyond belief; yet another woman may never be nauseous at all.

Swollen, tender breasts are a common sign, as are needing to urinate more often, being fatigued and some other things you mentioned. But here's the deal: Those symptoms can also just be PMS symptoms associated with the women's hormones (even if she's not always prone to PMS). So a missed period is usually the first concrete sign of a pregnancy.

Part of the reason it takes a while for the body to know it's pregnant is because the process itself of fertilization, travel down the Fallopian tubes and implantation can take several days all by itself. In other words, the egg may be fertilized and traveling toward the uterus but until it implants, the woman is not actually pregnant.

Be patient, DavnTuk. I know how hard that is when you are trying to conceive, but it's really the only thing you can do. Monitoring things with such an eagle eye can put a lot of stress and pressure on your partner, you know?
