Childhood obesity is a problem that can be addressed partially by parents and schools, but also by reforms of agribusiness to make healthy food less expensive. The current American diet largely consists of corn and corn syrup, and lots of cheap meat. If healthy food were less expensive and more widely available, we'd all be a lot healthier and I guarantee rates of Type II diabetes and childhood obesity would drop dramatically. As it is, people can't justify spending more money on food (and the time it takes to prepare it) if they can get away with spending less and cooking at home less.
