Anon,

Hi there, and I'm so glad you wrote.

First of all, it's a great thing that you know your breasts and your fibrous lumps so well, including when they cause you pain and when they don't. The fact that you are so well-acquainted with what is normal is wonderful.

Does the new lump feel like the others? Is it near the surface? is it squishy and movable or is it firm to the touch?

Do you have any other symptoms? Is the area warm to the touch (almost like it had a small fever or inflammation) or have you had a rash of any kind recently?

Anon, because you know that this is not normal for you, I would encourage you to see a doctor as soon as possible. A new lump that is very sore and was not there last week needs attention. It may end up being nothing to worry about, but it's much better to investigate it now -- just in case -- than it would be to wait a few weeks.

Will you make an appointment, and come back and update us?
