Hi my name is marie and I am the one that first posted the problem with what I think is a groin strain, I was interested when I read your comment as I too have lower back problems but didnt relate this to the problem with the pain in my groin. I slipped a disc about 15 years ago which I now have to be careful with, I only have to sneeze and it can put my back out or turn a little funny and it twinges. I too cant lift my leg up using my thigh muscle without pain when this problem starts, infact all of my symptoms are the same as yours. If you do get a diagnosis I would be really interested to know what it is and how to combat it as I would really like to start jogging again but find I cant while I have this problem.
