This does sound frightening to be in that situation!
I am assuming it was more than just being "preoccupied" (with music, talking on the cell phone), as many drivers have said that they "don't remember driving home" when referring to a daily commute that is familiar and they kind of "tune out" the details of the road, scenery, etc.
Can you confirm that this is not what you are referring to, so I can look into other possible options? I just want to make sure that you were not preoccupied with music, cell phone, other passengers, daydreaming, etc.
Are you on any medications?
Do you have any medical conditions?
How old are you?
