Dear Anon,

It sounds like you just had a period. Even though it is different from your usual period and came a few days earlier-- I'm leaning more towards you not being pregnant. Period cycles can change in length and duration due to many circumstances such as stress, diet change, exercise, your natural production of hormones, birth control pills, etc.

Bleeding in the first trimester, though possible, is usually light spotting and occasionally maybe a light bleed, heavy bleeding is usually not a symptom of pregnancy. If you are overly concerned about the pains in your lower abdomen not being regular, period-like cramps at this point you may test for pregnancy and that will be the true answer to your question. Good luck and please keep us posted!

Edited: This post is similar to your question of why your period is different this month and has some great insight: https://www.empowher.com/community/ask/my-menstrual-cycle-has-been-cut-short-7-8-days-4-why
