Dear Anon,

Is this Mirena you are referring to? If so, what you should feel for once a month are the threads on the IUD-- nothing else. If you are experiencing pain, discomfort, lumps, anything sharp, please go see your doctor. Although Mirena is an excellent option for some, it may not be for others. There is a possibility that Mirena implants itself into your uterus along with other Mirena-related complications and if you feel anything other than threads when you check the IUD, then it is best to get that checked out by your physician.

Best of Luck!
