Actually, metronidazole (flagyl) can be used to treat both -- and at the same dosage (recommended 2 gm orally in a one-time dose), which has about a 93% cure rate. There are other medications (e.g. clindamycin) that can be used for treatment, but Flagyl is in fact a standard treatment for both conditions.
