I am not certain, but did you mean bed bugs? I'm going to answer you with that in mind. You don't say how long it has been since your last exposure to the bugs. The bites can trigger an allergic reaction in some people that can get pretty nasty. Then if you scratch a lot, you can get a secondary infection sometimes, meaning you scratch and the bites become infected from the scratching.
It is also possible to bring the bugs with you. For instance, when you pack your bags to leave the ship, they can be hiding in your bags and set up house in your next home. So maybe you brought some with you?
I'm not sure why you feel this could be diabetes. If you could respond with a little more detail about the timing and whether they were indeed bed bugs and what else you have going on that makes you think diabetes, that would help us find you resources. In the meantime, here are a couple of good sources on bed bugs: One from Harvard http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/bedbugs/, and the other from Medscape: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1088931-overview. We also have a good, recent article right here on EmpowHer: https://www.empowher.com/news/herarticle/2010/03/19/bed-bugs-sleeping-alone
I hope this helps. Please get back to us if we can help you further.
