Hi Empower

You don't mention your age, but it could be relevant here. Is there a reason you do not agree with your doctor's thoughts on stress? Stress can do strange things to a menstrual cycle.

We get many questions on menstrual cycles, so looking at those conversations might help you: https://www.empowher.com/condition/menstrual-cycle

The kind of cycle you are speaking of is not uncommon, especially if you are in your thirties. Stress could definitely be the cause, but it can be hard to say exactly what the source is if it only happens one time. If you see a pattern of unusual periods for you, then you may want to talk to your doctor about testing hormone levels and that sort of thing. That can be done with a blood draw.

The best thing you can do is try and keep your stress levels as low as possible, possibly with yoga or other exercise, eat and drink healthily, get plenty of rest, and keep in contact with your doctor if you continue to have problems.

If you want to discuss this further, please write again with your age and other detail. Good luck to you.
