Hi Dancer-

Any time you have unprotected sex, you risk pregnancy, and missing pills leaves you unprotected for a while even if you take them later. So there is a possibility that you could become pregnant by missing pills and taking them later.

If I'm reading this correctly, your period started and then you took the pills with the hormones in them. It makes sense that your period would then stop, because the pills have hormones in them to prevent your ovulation and period. That means your body reacted properly to the extra kick of hormones.

Once you miss pills, you are unprotected for a while. How long depends on your pill. You can either read the insert that comes with the pills, or go to the website of the maker, like Ortho or whomever, and look up the insert information. It may say something like if you miss a pill use a second method of contraception for a week or a month. Again, it depends on the pills, but usually there is a period of time even after you start taking them again that you are not protected because your cycle is off and the hormones in your body may allow pregnancy to take place.

You can also call and ask your pharmacist or provider who prescribes the pills if you don't understand the insert flyer information. They are usually written in a sort of medicalese that you have to wade through to find your answers.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
