This is extremely powerful, and I would have never thought about the skills needed to withstand a traumatic experience, such as a direct hit from a tornado, would be the very same skills needed and "called upon" when you have another traumatic experience, such as being diagnosed with, and treated for, cancer. How interesting that 30 years later, one experience that would have seemed isolated, fairly unusual/unique and difficult would be seen as having a purpose...to provide perspective, strength and insight to survive and thrive through living with cancer.
