Ruhie, I'm a little confused.

It sounds like maybe you are having ultrasounds to measure the growth of your follicles? Have you asked these questions while having your ultrasounds?

Your follicle should grow until it releases the egg. Ovulation is when the egg pops out of the follicle. Your follicle should grow before the egg is released, but if it is still growing and has not released the egg you have not yet ovulated.

Ask questions about anything you don't understand when you are with the ultrasound tech or gynecologist or whomever is doing this for you. It is reasonable to have everything explained until you understand what is going on. We have a reproductive system section that may help you: https://www.empowher.com/condition/reproductive-system.

I also found a nice graphic to show how ovulation works: http://www.hrsu.mrc.ac.uk/staff/HFraser/HFraser-Foll-Dev-WEB%20(2).gif

I hope this information will help you. The most important thing is to always ask questions about anything you don't understand when you are with your health care team. Part of their job is educating you on what is happening.

Good luck and thanks for writing!
