I am so sorry that you have had a second miscarriage, and I know there are no words to express how painful this time is. Do you have friends and family that are able to support you right now?

A missed miscarriage is a difficult diagnosis to endure, as it is a type of miscarriage that most women do not have any symptoms for. The embryo is not expelled, and is the reason you have not had any bleeding, and still feel pregnant. You are not alone in all of these feelings.

Here is some information from American Pregnancy (you have probably already read this?):
"Missed Miscarriage: Women can experience a miscarriage without knowing it. A missed miscarriage is when embryonic death has occurred but there is not any expulsion of the embryo. It is not known why this occurs. Signs of this would be a loss of pregnancy symptoms and the absence of fetal heart tones found on an ultrasound."

You may still have pregnancy symptoms, and that can be normal, too.

If your doctor said that it could take 2-4 weeks for your body to naturally expel the embryo, then it sounds like it could happen after your insurance expires in 1 week. Please know that you have already had a miscarriage...this part did happen naturally, and your body was doing its best to end a pregnancy that was not viable. You would no longer be considered to have a viable pregnancy with a miscarriage diagnosis. The only thing that you body needs to do is to still expel the embryo in the next 2-4 weeks, since you have already had a miscarriage.

It sounds like you have a few tough decisions to make, which is awful during this emotionally trying time (to say the least).
1. Do you have a D & C, regardless of your fear that it could diminish your future chances of conceiving?
2. Do you wait 2-4 weeks, after your insurance has expired, for your body to expel the embryo, in hopes that you are not hospitalized again, or do not need a D & C at that time? Many women are able to expel the embryo after a missed miscarriage without complications, and I am not sure what your previous complications were regarding your first miscarriage?

I have not found any credible information that states that a D&C will diminish your chances of conceiving in the future, assuming that the D&C procedure was successful with no complications.

Does any of this help?
