YEAH! I am so glad to hear back from you, and that you have had periods in April and May. whew!

Condoms are a GREAT choice...they are up to 98% effective at preventing against pregnancy when used consistently and correctly each and every time. The pill, and other hormonal contraceptives, are very safe for most women, and could be a good choice for you when you are old enough to visit with your doctor on your own.

You may want to educate yourself on Plan B, or emergency contraception, as you can get this without parent's permission, without a prescription, and it is used "just in case" immediately after intercourse (not as a birth control, but if something happens to a condom, for instance). It is good to know which pharmacies carry them, so you can be prepared if the worst happens. Please know---it is not a substitute for birth control, as it is a mega dose of hormones (found in the pill), and the pill is MUCH more effective. The Plan B is only for emergencies, but good to have on hand (or, know how to get it quickly at the pharmacy). I can tell you more about this if you are interested.

Your period can change from cycle-to-cycle, and can be lighter, heavier, or longer or shorter duration; it can be different colors (brown, pink, red), with spotting or no spotting beforehand. Seeing blood on only one side of the tampon is normal. Does this information help?
