Susan - I love your comments! Kudos for putting this in writing and pointing out what nonsense we women are so often subjected to. The other extreme of this is the women who are chosen for make-overs because they "let themselves go" (while working, raising a family and all the other jobs real women do) and then lo and behold after two days of intense support from stylists, wardrobe people, make up artists, beauticians, etc., they are paraded on a stage in front of the cameras to show the rest of us what we "should" and "could" do instead of "letting ourselves go".

What nonsense! Right now as I'm dealing with hair loss from cancer treatment and days in which it's difficult to just take care of essentials I really don't a) have the energy to do a lot with my hair or b) view having great looking hair as any kind of priority. I have hair coverings that I can wear when I need to, and last week I had fun shopping for a new hat for the summer. My health comes first and foremost, then a long list of other things.

And, while I'm on the topic, can you imagine a show about men discussing their hair as their identity and a political statement?

Thanks for a great post.
