Dear Anonymous, I am 53 and was having extreme hot flashes, dizziness, rapid heart beats, low B/P and extreme fatigue. My OB/Gyn continually blamed this all on Menopause. When extreme diarrhea, swelling and weight loss occurred I went to primary physician and blood work was done which showed positive for Lupus. I also had the butterfly
mask/rash on my face. Dr. sent me to rheumatologist who tested me for other diseases that have same/similar symptons to rule out anything else before doctoring for Lupus. A 24HR urinalysis (5H1AA) test showed positive for Carcinoid Cancer - a very rare incurable cancer that usually goes undetected until symptons present themselves. I have been with an
oncologist since Dec.09 and have undergone open heart surgery as it attacked the Tricuspid Valve. My main point here is - please don't assume that everything is related to menopause. The medical field is taught that if they hear hoofbeats think of horses - not zebras. Because
the zebra is not thought of the drs. sometimes don't think outside the box and only look for the obvious - especially if it is something they have
never heard of. I have no intentions of scaring you - just continue questioning until you are satisfied with your answers.
I wish you the best!
