Hi Marie,

Many times when high blood pressure is hereditary, medication may be necessary. There are many things that you can do naturally to lower your blood pressure:

lose weight
do not smoke/or drink alcohol
reducing the sodium (salt) in your foods
exercise

Here is a link from the National Institute of Health which will help you better understand different medications as well as what you can try to do naturally to lower your blood pressure. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/hbp/treat/treat.htm.

I know you say that exercise may be an issue but water aerobics is known to be a great way to exercise without putting so much pressure on your body to bother the arthritis. Have you ever tried that?

Please let us know if the information helps you and keep us updated.
