Hey there! Glad to see I'm not alone lol. I'm a 23 y/o female and I found the complete surgery to be more successful than just lancing. At 13, Back in 2007, a hard fall from a bike onto my tailbone resulted in an extremely painful PC due to the inflammation causing a pocket to form around a hair folicile. I had it lanced and drained, with the hole left open, & packing gauze in the hole which had tunneled down to my tailbone (had to be changed nightly for two weeks.) Two years later it was back, and I had it lanced & drained again. Two more years later it was back AGAIN which pushed my parents and doctors to getting me a cystectomy. This was stitched up. It's now 2017, and I'm still cyst free!!!! For those suffering from a reoccurring pilonidal cyst, I say go on ahead and ask for a cystectomy. It removes the tissue pocket that keeps getting infected & is a relatively quick outpatient procedure. It's not worth the pain/hassle of having to be drained multiple times!
