It is possible for your doctor to misdiagnose you, that is always possible. If the doctor swabbed and checked the sample, there should not be a misdiagnosis. Also, I believe BV is treated with antibiotics, and metronidazole is an antifungal, often used to treat a yeast infection. So this whole thing is a little confusing to me. I think in your situation I would go back to the doctor and ask exactly what you asked here. In addition, if you haven't seen a gynecologist, it would be a good idea to see one now.
