Hi,
I'm not a doctor, so I really can't advise you either way, I can only make suggestions, and the rest is for you to advocate for yourself. It would do no harm to contact your doctor's office and speak with a nurse to find out what they say. If only so you can tell your mother and have both of you (and your boyfriend) know the plan--it can be a comfort being in control, removing any stress. It always is a good idea to make note of any changes in your cycle, regardless if you call the doctor or not.
Again, good luck, and let us know if there are any further developments.
