This is an excellent question. It is possible for a woman to test HPV positive during one exam, and then for her body to "suppress" the virus (similar to how our bodies suppress cold and flu viruses). I believe you are no longer contagious, and are now a carrier of HPV (as are 80% of sexually active women).
Let me look into this further; if you were to have unprotected sex, if you are able to infect another person. I will reply with more information soon.
