Hi najma,
It is important for your daughter to ask her doctor about this, as the quantity of leukocytes can be a factor in possible treatment.

Leukocytes are white blood cells...they are the cells in our body that help fight infection. If leukocytes are found in urine, it could indicate a urinary tract infection, and these are easily treated. There is likely no harm to mom or baby, if it from a UTI.

I assume her doctor explained to her what the lab test results indicate? Rarely do doctors say, "you have leukocytes in your urine...have a nice day!". The doctor will explain what this means, and if any treatment is necessary. What did the doctor say to your daughter, and what questions did your daughter ask?

Is your daughter having any symptoms of a UTI? I know it can be difficult to know if she is having any urinary tract symptoms, as being in the 37th week of pregnancy already puts a lot of pressure on a woman's bladder...it all feels so different, it is impossible to remember what our "normal" feels like!

Please let us know what your daughter's doctor said in regards to the white blood cells found in her urine. Are they going to conduct a repeat urine test (she is likely seeing her doctor weekly, correct?), to re-test for these cells and possible infection? Is your daughter having any troublesome symptoms? Does the doctor want to treat this possible infection now, or wait until after delivery? If your daughter does have a UTI, we can provide more information about what this means (they are very common, and easily treated).
