Hi Anonymous

How you feel about menopause has as much to do as the culture you were raised in as the actual symptoms you may experience. US culture tends to view menopause as sort of life-ending, and it isn't the case. Some cultures celebrate women getting older and wiser, while we try to keep them young. It is a sociological issue as well as a medical one.

Some people have annoying symptoms during menopause, and others don't. It is quite individual. There are things that can be done to help some of the symptoms, and some women resort to hormone therapy which, in effect, stops menopause by replacing the declining hormones that cause it.

I am also 46, and in perimenopause. I have some hot flashes and they can be irritating, but I'm looking forward to menopause, no more periods, no more risk of pregnancy, etc. I suspect I am not the common case in that thinking.

As far as relaxation, I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for. There are many ways to relax yourself, such as controlled breathing, yoga, guided imagery, things like taking a walk or a bath or doing something you enjoy.

We have a lot of menopause information here on the site: https://www.empowher.com/condition/menopause. Read through and it may help you. If you have further questions, please ask.
