I received a reply from my friend, Lisa, who is a certified personal trainer. Here is what she suggests to deal with your concern:
"Actually shoulder breadth is body type – something you are born with – my personal opinion is that this person is fortunate to have a wider shoulder breadth as that makes the rest of her body look smaller (most women - including myself - have the opposite problem!) However, she could benefit from doing exercises that build muscle in the lower half of her body to give her body more of a symmetrical look. She would need to do high weight/lower rep strength training exercises such as squats and lunges. Also it is very important to keep a strong core as well. However, I would recommend her consulting with a personal trainer to determine specific needs and to make sure that she is a candidate for those type of exercises. She needs to have healthy knees, back, etc before attempting high weight/low rep exercise."
Good luck and let us know how you're doing, or if you have additional questions.
