Thank you for your post, and for finding EmpowHER. Normally, colposcopy is done following an abnormal pap smear, or if the doctor thinks something may be wrong following a pelvic exam.
Colposcopy is typically done to determine if you have one of the following conditions:
- Cervical cancer
- Genital warts
- Inflammation of the cervix (cervicitis)
- Precancerous changes in the cells of the cervix
- Precancerous changes in the cells of the vagina
- Vaginal cancer
Did you have an HPV test done, or have you had abnormal pap smears in the past? Did the doctor give you any indication why the colposcopy was necessary? What did the doctor find in the colposcopy--what do you mean by "not good"? Did the doctor do a biopsy? When can you expect results?
Please give more information, and let us know what the results of the exam are so we may be able to help you.
