ddadf88 - Good question. Generally the physician/surgeon is responsible for patient care overall including approving and managing the diagnostic and treatment process, plus follow up care. The other aspects of care are often very specialized so the other members of the team have specialized training in their respective areas and handle those functions. To give you an example of this, I see a hematologist/oncologist for my leukemia but when I need to have a bone marrow biopsy it's done by a nurse practitioner who specializes in this area, and is extremely good at it. I'm not surprised that the surgeon was not the one doing your biopsy and see no problem with this. Hope that helps! Pat
