Hi worriedgirl,
The home pregnancy tests are about 99% accurate at detecting any "pregnancy" hormones once you have missed a period, so assuming you took it as directed, your results should be correct.

You are right that many women have missed or late periods, and there is a first time for everything! It is worrisome, I know, but if you are not having any other symptoms, it really could be stress-related. Women's bodies are not like clock-work; our cycles are regulated by hormones that are constantly reacting and interacting with our environment, and changes to our environment can lead to small changes in our cycles.

The withdrawal method is not very reliable as a birth control, and if you are really not ready for a pregnancy at this time in your life, you may want to reconsider your choice of birth control. The withdrawal method is only 70-80% effective at preventing pregnancy, compared to condoms at up to 98% and pills at 99% effectiveness. You could combine condoms with withdrawal method, for great prevention!!

Try to wait another week; I bet your period will begin! If not, take another pregnancy test just to rule out this possibility, and let us know how you're doing!
