When your menstrual period begins, it indicates that you are not pregnant. Like Pat said, it really could be your increase in exercise through sports, or being a teenager! Girls and women in their teens do have menstrual irregularities.
If you are having any other symptoms (pain during urination, for example) you would want to call your doctor. And, if you miss another period, you may also want to just check-in with your doctor, but most doctors do not need to see patients unless they have missed 3 or more periods consecutively.
