Your menstrual period is the "sloughing off" of your thickened uterine wall lining. Anything that is in your uterus right now is being discharged from your body through menstrual tissue and blood. It means that if you did ovulate this cycle (you probably did), that it occurred a few weeks ago, and the egg has since been absorbed back into your body. There is no viable egg to fertilize. You may see some semen come out (or it might mix with menstrual blood and turn it a lighter color of pink).
