Hi Anonymous,
I removed your e-mail address to protect your privacy. There is a bit of concern about you wanting to stop your medications for a couple reasons. First, why were you hospitalized in 2005? The two medications that you are on are treatments for depression but Lithium Carbonate is more of an anti-psychotic medication. Were you diagnosed with more than just depression? Bipolar perhaps?

The biggest misconception about medication is that you may feel better since you may have not had an episodes in a long period of time but quitting your medication is a serious gamble. I think the majority of physicians will agree that stopping medication is not a good idea and I will have to agree with your physician that quitting your medication is not ideal.

Obviously, your physician indicated that a baby was not a good idea. Have you tried to get a second opinion? Don't forget that the medication you are taking is stabilizing your mood, thoughts, etc. If you stop taking your medication, you certainly risk being hospitalized again. Can you please provide us more information?

Thanks, Missie
