Did you use a condom or are you on any form of birth control? I am assuming you are not based on your question. Even if your boyfriend didn't go all the way "in" that can be enough for you to get pregnant. I know you mentioned your period being irregular and since you have already tested for pregnancy, try giving it another week before you test again.
Understand that any time you have sex or insertion of the penis-- you CAN get pregnant, especially if there is no protection. Be safe, use a condom or some form of contraceptive to avoid the stress of wondering if you're pregnant or not.
