I am 16 and I had upj robotic or divinci surgery about a year ago. I still have chronic pain and my kidney function rose 3% after surgery and that seemed to be a failed surgery. My doctor is a nice man but when I go in to talk about my kidney function he tells me all the different things it could be and that he’ll see me in 6 months for an update... this has gotten very annoying because with this persistent pain I miss school and I can’t even stay the night at a friends house knowing I will wake up in the middle of the night in horrible pain. The pain is where it always has been in my side and back area. It makes my side tender and very sickening feeling. I’m having another surgery this month to see what can be done or what’s going on with it. I expect my doctor will put a stent in and tell me he’ll see me in another 6 months! I wish this horrible kidney would just be removed but of course that’s the absolute last thing my doctor wants to do. I’m very upset by the way it makes me sick and the fact that it’s taking a toll on my school and cheerleading.
