A visit to the R.D. would not cause a weight reduction, if you are not exercising, are "eager to eat" (as you describe), continue to smoke "a lot".

You are doing the right thing by information-seeking, but it does sound like you know how to lose weight, as you provide many reasons why you are not able to exercise, are not able to find the energy to exercise (some is from your treatments; most of your energy would be depleted through smoking), and you may be consuming more calories than you need through your "eagerness".

Losing weight is really about making choices, and there is no magic equation to losing weight...it is just expending more calories than you consume. Meaning: eating less calories or exercising more to burn calories.

An R.D. can help you find a healthy eating plan, including:
- healthy food options
- a plan that incorporates your favorite foods in moderation
- portion-controlled sizes of meals and foods
- cooking healthy meals with little time or energy
- healthy snacking
- learning how many calories you should eat

Can you go back to the R.D., and get this type of information? I would assume you already did receive this information, and if so, please let us know what you DID learn, what specific individualized-information was given to you...and we can help you incorporate this information into your lifestyle.

Also...you have told us all the exercises you can not do, or the reasons you can not do them, but exercising will help you decrease weight (along with healthy eating), provide more energy...it could even help stop some nicotine cravings.

So....what exercises CAN you do?
