Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. Is perimenopause hereditary? You ask a good question. From what I've read, yes, you can look at how your mom has progressed through perimenopause and menopause and expect similar treatment from Mother Nature. If the change in your cycle has concerned you, you may want to mention it at your next annual exam with your gynecologist to ensure they have accurate history on you and can recommend any tests in case there may be an underlying reason to what you are experiencing. As you know, it is normal for your cycle to fluctuate a bit from month-to-month no matter how regular you usually are. Have you ever noticed how when you are around a particular woman, your cycles begin to match up? Strange, isn't it?
