Hi Anon,

Personally, I suffered from a mild case of RLS years ago and still get that urge to move my legs sometimes late at night. In my case, massaging my legs and taking a hot bath usually relieved the symptoms. However, there are also other ways of treating RLS. This includes the self therapy I mentioned as well as hot/cold packs, supplements such as folate, magnesium, iron, and vitamins B12, C, and E. Increasing activity can sometimes help with RLS-- have you talked to your doctor about starting a workout regime?

As far as meds, here are a few that usually get prescribed for RLS:
Treatment for Severe Cases of RLS
Medication
Benzodiazepines
Dopaminergic agents ( ropinirole , pramipexole )—considered the most effective
Opioids
Anticonvulsants ( gabapentin )
Clonidine

We are constantly updating our Restless Legs Syndrome page as well as keeping you informed about any research being done for RLS.
